Kunihiko Sugano

Kunihiko Sugano ( Japanese 菅 野 邦彦 , Sugano Kunihiko ; born November 13, 1936 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz pianist .

Sugano played in the Tokyo jazz scene from the 1950s a. a. with George Kawaguchi's The Big 4, Isao Suzuki , he also worked with his own formations such as the Kunihiko Sugano Quartet and the Kunihiko Sugano Trio (including with Eizō Honda ). In the late 1960s and 1970s, he released albums under his own name such as Finger Popping (1968, with Yoshio Ikeda , Hiroshi Yamazaki ), Love Is a Many Splendored Thing (TBM, 1974, with Yoichi Kobayashi , Teruhiko Takada , Yoichi Ogawa ) , Hullo Again (1981, with Satoshi Kosugi , Joe Jones Jr.). The joint production collaboration with Eiji Kitamura was created in 1973 (with Masanaga Harada and Hiroshi Sunaga ); with the bassist Isao Suzuki he recorded the duo album Sincerely Yours in 1980 . In the field of jazz he was involved in 10 recording sessions between 1967 and 2011.

Sound engineer Okihiko Sugano is his older brother.
