Satoshi Kosugi

Satoshi Kosugi ( Japanese 小 杉 敏 , Kosugi Satoshi ; * 1943 in Mori , Shūichi County , Shizuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz musician ( double bass ).

Satoshi Kosugi worked in the Japanese jazz scene a. a. with Yoshio Otomo , heard on his album Oh! Friends (1976) and As a Child (1978). During this time he also played with Fumio Watanabe , Kay Ishiguro , Kanji Ohta and in the Eiichi Fujii Trio ( Plays Sonny Rollins , 1979), in the 1980s also with Sakurako Ogyu ( Ballad Night ), Fumio Watanabe ( Groovin 'High ), Shinji Mori ( Sweet Pumpkin ) and Kunihiko Sugano . In the 1990s and 2000s he participated in the recordings of Tomoki Takahashi and Michiko Suzuki , in the following decade he played in the trios of pianist Satomi Kawakami ( Orchid , 2011, with Masahiro Tajika ) and pianist Kazuhide Motooka ( Tokyo Dusk , 2015, with Fumio Watanabe). The discographer Tom Lord lists his involvement in jazz between 1976 and 2015 at twelve recording sessions. Most recently he played in the trio of guitarist Sadanori Nakamure (with drummer Yoshihito Eto ).
