The Tot Pond (English for Schlückchentümpel ) is a pond in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is the smaller and more westerly of two frozen ponds in the valley floor of the Alatna Valley in the Convoy Range . It is fed by the overflow from the neighboring Rum Pond .
The pond is one of a number of geographic features in the Convoy Range whose names are related to seafaring . "Dead" is the usual term in English-speaking sailor jargon for a small amount of rum . The designation was made by a team from the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program , who worked in this area between 1989 and 1990.
