With the apostolic letter Totius orbis ( German for the whole world ) in the form of a motu proprio , dated November 9, 2005, Pope Benedict XVI promulgated . some new orders for the basilicas of San Francesco and Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi .
Provisions
In order to coordinate and guarantee the pastoral service in the above-mentioned basilicas as well as the attached monastery , but also the pastoral work in the diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino , the Pope was keen to support the activities of his predecessor Paul VI. (Motu proprio: "Inclita toto" of August 8, 1969) to adapt the established rules to today's conditions.
Legacy and jurisdiction
"I. For the Basilica of St. Francis and the adjoining monastery as well as for the basilica "Santa Maria degli Angeli" We appoint a cardinal of the Holy Roman Church as our legate , who, even if he does not have jurisdiction , will have the task, through his moral authority, for unbroken continuity to care for the close bonds of communion between the Holy Places in memory of Poverello of Assisi and this Apostolic See . Religious orders
