Tour Mognet in Moncontour

The Tour Mognet in Moncontour , a French commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in the Brittany region , was built in the 15th century. The fortified tower made of granite masonry was added to the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique in 1926 .

The round tower is one of the few remains of the former city fortifications that were built during the War of the Breton Succession . The tower, which served as a defense on the northwest side of the city, was changed several times in the following period due to the advancing development of artillery .
