The Tour de la Porte de Cers (also known as the Powder Tower ) in Avignonet-Lauragais , a French commune in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitanie region , was built in 1356. The round tower has been on the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique since 1965 .

The tower is the only remnant of the former city fortifications, which were built after the arson by Edward of Woodstock in 1355 .

The round tower made of quarry stone masonry is the rest of a fortified gate system. It is crowned by a stone roof in the shape of a cone .
