Toure Butler (born June 4, 1977 ) is a retired American football player .

Life

Butler played American football at Cascade High School in Washington State from 1992 to 1996 , and from 1996 he was a member of the University of Washington  team while studying sociology there . Since Butler had received remedial tuition as a student due to a learning disability, the NCAA had not recognized the completion of his exam results necessary for university studies in 1996. However, a court agreed that Butler would be able to start studying. He played until 2001 for the college team of the University of Washington, where he was not used in the 1999 season due to knee problems. In 2001 he won the Rose Bowl with the team . He then briefly served on the University of Washington's coaching staff.

The 1.76 meter tall pass defender was signed in May 2002 by the British Columbia Lions from the Canadian league CFL after he had previously signed with the Cologne Crocodiles in Germany, but received approval from the Cologne team after the offer from Canada arrived . At the end of May 2003, Butler switched to the Hamburg Blue Devils . With the team he won the German championship title in 2003, in 2005 he reached the final with Hamburg again, but this time lost with the Hanseatic League against Braunschweig.

After three years of playing in Hamburg, Butler wore the colors of the Everett Hawks in the indoor football league af2 in his home country in 2006 . For the 2007 season he went back to Germany, to the Plattling Black Hawks  in the second division, after the move to the Braunschweig Lions  had previously failed. He also played for Plattling in 2008 and won the championship title in the southern season of the second division with the team. For the 2009 season, Butler returned to the Hamburg Blue Devils and also took on tasks in the coaching staff at the Hanseatic League, who had since retired to the regional league. In 2010 Butler devoted himself entirely to coaching and was also a member of the staff of the Blue Devils and the Elmshorn Fighting Pirates  (Oberliga). In 2011 he also worked in a double role for Hamburg and Elmshorn. In October 2011 he returned to his home country. There Butler initially worked in airport logistics, later at a wholesale chain, in waste management and at the aircraft manufacturer Boeing . He also worked as a football coach at the school level in Washington State.
