The tourist house Zakopane ( Polish Dom Turysty im. Mariusza Zaruskiego w Zakopanem ) is located at an altitude of 900 meters in Poland in Zakopane . With 300 beds, the mountain hotel is the largest facility of the PTTK in the Tatras . The mountain hotel is outside the Tatra National Park .

history

The mountain hotel was built by the PTTK in the center of Zakopane in the neo- Zakopane style between 1949 and 1953 . Its roof was the largest shingle roof in Europe until 2012 . The interior was designed by the artists Antoni Kenar and Władysław Hasior . The Pegaz gallery and the Zaskroniec cabaret were also located in the building . It is named after Mariusz Zaruski . The tourist house is owned by the PTTK . It was sold to the Platan Group in 2008, who remodeled it from 2012 to 2014. Critics criticized the destruction of the shingle roof and the interior. The PTTK has also been criticized for the fact that a facility that was primarily available to backpackers and students for sixty years has now become a four-star luxury hotel and a popular facility for backpackers in Zakopane has been lost.
