Toussaint McCall
Toussaint McCall (* 1934 in Monroe , Louisiana ) is an American organist, songwriter and singer of rhythm and blues and soul .
Live and act
Toussaint McCall was best known for his song Nothing Takes the Place of You (1967). It peaked at # 5 on the R&B charts and later became u. a. covered by Isaac Hayes on his album Black Moses (1971). Although he presented more singles and an album on Ronn Records , he could not build on this success. He continued to record singles such as The Toussaint Shuffle, I Stand Accused, My Love Is A Guarantee and Baby You Got It for local record labels until 1969 . In 1988 he had a cameo appearance in the John Waters - film Hairspray , in which he presented his old charts hit.
