Toxic Shock was a German crossover band from Eislingen / Fils , Baden-Württemberg , which was founded in 1985 under the name Mayhem and split up around 1992.

history

The band was founded in 1985 under the name Mayhem by the brothers Manuel (electric guitar) and Klaus Kreissig (drums). The first local appearances followed with a changing line-up. At the beginning of 1988 singer Uwe Dießenbacher joined the cast and the group was able to get a contract with Metal Blast from Donzdorf . The renaming to Toxic Shock was followed by the debut album Change from Reality in October 1988 . The album was the first to be released by Metal Blast. The label was later to be renamed Nuclear Blast . The release was followed by appearances with Accu§er , Rostok Vampires and Mucky Pup , with guitarist Tim and bassist Geoff Atwater emerging as new members. Due to an accident, singer Dießenbacher could not take part in some performances. The band then worked on their second album Welcome Home… Near Dark and, in October 1989, went to the Hildesheim Masterplan Studio as they did with their first album . Olli could be heard as the new singer, while Andreas Mailänder played the bass. Shortly before Dießenbacher's departure from the band, he had also briefly taken over the bass. After the release, the band split from Nuclear Blast. In 1992 the third album Between Good and Evil was released on Massacre Records . In addition to the Kreissig brothers, the band now consisted of singer Kai Weber and bassist Philipp Kneile. The band later broke up.

style

The band played a mix of Hardcore Punk and Thrash Metal on their debut Change from Reality , with the band also covering Stormtroopers of Death on the album . While the lyrics were quite aggressive, the band was musically much less aggressive. On the second album Welcome Home… Near Dark , the band played classic Thrash Metal, but roughly produced. On Between Good and Evil the band was also musically more aggressive, as Weber's vocals reminded me of Death Metal .
