TrachtNet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The TrachtNet is an observation network for recording changes in the weight of beehives, on the basis of which the living conditions of bee colonies and their activities can be documented and assessed.

background

In the Trachtnet at more than 440 locations across Germany (as of May 15, 2020), the food input, consisting of nectar and pollen (positive changes in weight) or food consumption (negative changes in weight), is continuously recorded by bee colonies using electronic hive scales , offset and updated to publicly available daily updates Diagrams processed. Thanks to the high measuring accuracy of the scales (10 g) and the short measuring intervals (every five minutes), beekeeping interventions (e.g. taking honey, feeding, etc.) are automatically defined and corrected as external influences from a weight difference of more than 200 g, see above that approximately only the weight changes influenced by bees are shown.

The daily weight differences are added up day by day at the beginning of the year. In the first few weeks of the year, the bees consume more than they collect and the bee colonies become lighter. With the increased flowering of nectar- and / or pollen-supplying plants, the bees collect more than they consume and store supplies. This time is defined in the TrachtNet as the start of foraging. From this point on, the weights of the bee colonies increase continuously, with the exception of foraging gaps (periods in which the bees cannot make collective flights, e.g. due to unfavorable weather). The end of the costume is also visible when the weights continue to decrease until the end of the year.

The TrachtNet is the center of expertise on bees and beekeeping in Mayen (Workgroup DLR Westerwald-Osteifel ), the working group " Agricultural Meteorology " of the DLR Rhein-Nahe-Hunsrück of the country Rhineland-Palatinate and the Institute of Beekeeping and Beekeeping the LWG Bayern coordinated nationwide and further developed.
