Tragedy of a Strike is a short German silent film drama from 1911.
action
A worker leads his colleagues on a strike that suddenly cuts off the power supply to a hospital. In this hospital, however, an operation is being carried out on the strike leader's child. Now it threatens to die from this measure. The workers return to themselves and end their "riot".
Production notes
The tragedy of a strike occurred in the early autumn of 1911 in the Messter-Film-Atelier on Blücherstrasse. The film, which is only 355 meters long, was censored on October 6, 1911 and premiered on October 28, 1911.
As is so often the case in Henny Porten's early films , the child actress Lotte Müller played by her side.
The production cost 364.50 marks (2,059 euros).
The poster designs come from the Austrian painter Julius Klinger .
criticism
Almost a century later, the assessment of this film said: "The logic of social parallel montage consistently leads to class reconciliation of the repentant workers: two separate strands of images strive towards one another."
