The Transpak AG is a German packaging wholesaler with headquarters in central Hesse Oberbiel . The company was founded in 1975 with the managing director Dieter Gaul. In the meantime, TransPak has developed into one of the largest employers in Solms .

history

In 1975, TransPak GmbH was founded as a one-product specialist with three employees. The company began selling wooden containers for US freight forwarders. In 1985 TransPak GmbH moved into its first own office and warehouse building in Wetzlar-Garbenheim and expanded its range to include cardboard boxes for household goods for US and furniture shipping companies. A year later, the company began to build up its own vehicle fleet and in 1988 expanded its business areas as a system provider for industry and trade.

With the establishment of the first branches in Saxony and Bavaria, the company invested in the development of a nationwide sales and location network. In 1993 the company started the mail order business with the first catalog. This had a length of 48 pages and a print run of 10,000 copies. With the purchase of the warehouse and logistics site in Solms-Oberbiel in 1996, the company continued to grow and moved into its new administration building in Solms-Oberbiel. In 2000, TransPak became an AG: The board of directors was formed by the shareholders Dieter Gaul and Markus Jürgens. In 2007, Hans-Peter Weufen was added to the management board, and in 2010 Dieter Gaul moved from the management board to the AG's supervisory board.

The annual turnover in 2011 was already around 86 million euros, which was not least due to the modernization of the dispatch center and the expansion of the truck fleet. In 2012, TransPak employed around 320 people, 40 of them in the field and meanwhile had 18 locations with 12 own warehouses (15 in Germany and 3 abroad).

In 2015, TransPak AG celebrated its 40th anniversary and the Döbeln location its 25th anniversary. The annual turnover was around 100 million euros. In the following year, the Bremgarten location was opened in Switzerland with its own sales force. In 2017 the board was supplemented by Tobias Wenninger. In 2019, the expansion of the Döbeln location began with the construction of a new warehouse, which should be completed in 2020.
