The Transit Explore Bus ( TEB ), also known as Transit Elevated Bus , 3D Express Coach , Straddle Bus , Land Airbus , Tunnel Bus or anti-traffic jam bus, or stilt bus in Chinese translations , is a Chinese concept for urban mass transport. This is a rail vehicle with a particularly wide track that is integrated into the public transport space , similar to a tram .

The financing of the project is unclear. There is a suspicion of a fraudulent pyramid scheme in the room. In July 2017, the CEO of Huaying Kailai Asset Management Co. Ltd and 31 employees of the project were arrested on suspicion of fraud. The rails of the 300 meter long test route were dismantled.

history

The vehicle was first presented at the Beijing International High-Tech Expo in 2010. A working model was presented there in 2016. At the beginning of August 2016, a prototype drove for the first time on a 300-meter test track in the Chinese city of Qinhuangdao . In the Chinese cities of Nanyang , Shenyang , Tianjin and Zhoukou , further pilot lines should be built from 2016. Interest came from Brazil, France, India and Indonesia.

concept

The eight meter wide and four and a half meter high vehicle TEB-1 is to drive over two lanes for individual traffic , similar to a gantry crane , so that other vehicles can drive through up to a height of two meters below the passenger cabin. The underside should be at a height of more than 2.10 meters above the road surface. The two rails are to be arranged next to the lanes. As a result, the scarce traffic area should be used by several road users (car, Transit Explore Bus) at the same time without them hindering each other.

Entry for passengers on both sides of the vehicle should only be possible on special platforms that are at an appropriate height above normal street level. The passengers are in different cars, which together are supposed to accommodate up to 1400 people. The vehicle is to be operated electrically via overhead lines or with traction batteries and reach speeds of up to 60 km / h.

The construction costs of the system could be only ten percent compared to a subway with corresponding capacities.

The clearance profile of the TEB is only 2 meters below the floor so that only smaller cars can drive under it, while larger vehicles have to be diverted. At the same time, the TEB itself with a total height of 4.5 meters only fits under a few bridges in China, as the Chinese bridge standard that has existed to date is 4 meters, so that it cannot be used on all roads.
