Trappist Abbey of Conyers
The Trappist Conyers Abbey (Latin Abbatia Beatae Mariae de Spiritu ) is an American monastery in Conyers (Georgia) , Rockdale County , Archdiocese of Atlanta .
history
The Trappist Abbey of Gethsemani founded the daughter monastery Our Lady of the Holy Spirit (initially: Holy Ghost , "Our Lady of the Holy Spirit") southeast of Atlanta in 1944 , which was elevated to an abbey in 1946 and officially inaugurated in 1968. An important author was Abbot Basil Pennington (1930-2005).
