Miraflores Trappist Abbey

The Trappist Abbey Miraflores ( Abadía Santa María de Miraflores ; Latin Abbatia Santae Mariae de Miraflores ) has been a Chilean monastery of the Trappists near Rancagua , diocese of Rancagua , since 1960 .

history

The American Trappist Abbey Spencer founded the daughter monastery Our Lady of the Andes (Our Lady of the Andes) in La Dehesa, Lo Barnechea, in the province of Santiago in 1960 . In 1966 the convent was strengthened from the Trappist Abbey of Gethsemani , made a priory in 1969 and an independent priory in 1980. In 1986 the convent moved northeast of Rancagua to Miraflores in Codegua ( province of Cachapoal ) and was elevated to an abbey there in 2012 . In the meantime the monastery, which in the meantime was called Nuestra Señora de La Dehesa , had taken on the name "Saint Mary of Miraflores".
