The Lacs
The Lacs are an American country rap duo from Georgia , consisting of Clay Sharpe and Brian King.
Band history
The Lacs - short for Loud ass crackers - were founded in Baxley in the state of Georgia in the southeastern United States. Originally, in addition to Clay Sharpe and Brian King, Brandon Herndon also belonged to the band. In 2002 they released the albums Midas Well Get Drunk and South on Fire for the indie label Side Ya Mouth and in 2006 the third album Lacology , which they produced in their own Bottom Boyz studios . They combined Southern country rock with Southern rap contributed by Clay Sharpe aka Uncle Snap . But after the album trilogy could not get much attention, the Lacs took a break, during which Herndon separated from the band. The remaining duo went on and signed with Backroad Records , the label of country singer Colt Ford . In 2011 they returned with the album Country Boy's Paradise and this time made it into the US country charts . Ford had directly participated as a guest singer. Although the album didn't get past # 52, it stayed in the charts for almost a year.
For the next album they could win Big & Rich and Bubba Sparxxx . 190 Proof appeared just a year later and made it into the official album charts . It stayed in the country charts for almost a year and a half. More albums followed every year. In 2013 they achieved their highest placement on the Billboard 200 with Keep It Redneck with number 23 and top 5 placements in the country and rap charts. It was also their most successful album in terms of sales. Outlaw in Me made it to number 3 in the country and rap charts in 2015. Both albums stayed in the charts for a significantly shorter time than the first two albums as a duo. With the albums American Rebelution and Dirt Rock , the success decreased significantly from 2017.
