Trappist Abbey of Naší Paní nad Vltavou

The Trappist Abbey of Naší Paní nad Vltavou ( Our Lady of the Vltava ) is the only Trappist monastery in the Czech Republic . It is located in the Poličany part of Křečovice ( Okres Benešov ) on a hill above a bend in the Vltava river .

history

In 2007 nine Cistercian women from the strict observance (Trappist women ) of the Vitorchiano Abbey founded the Naší Paní nad Vltavou priory . They accepted an invitation from the Archbishop of Prague, Cardinal Miloslav Vlk .

In 2008, Nuncio Diego Causero laid the foundation stone for the monastery church. In 2012 she was Cardinal Vlk ordained . In 2018 the priory was elevated to an abbey .
