Travis Fimmel (born July 15, 1979 in Echuca , Victoria , Australia ) is an Australian film actor and former photo model , who became known through various advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein .

Life

Fimmel grew up as the son of a cattle farmer and a nurse, the youngest of three brothers in the country. He left home at the age of 17 and moved to Melbourne in 1997 . There he studied project management at RMIT University . In 1998, the 1.80 meter tall, dark blonde Fimmel was discovered in a fitness studio by the Chadwick Model Management agency . In 1999 he broke off his studies and moved to London , where he worked as a tourist guide .

In 2001 he moved to Los Angeles , where he immediately signed up with a model agency. The agency arranged for him to appear in video clips of Jennifer Lopez and Janet Jackson . He was later hired for a Calvin Klein underwear advertising campaign, which was followed by another for Calvin Klein's Crave perfume . He received a six-figure sum for this campaign, the second highest fee the fashion company had ever paid a model .

In 2003 Fimmel switched to the film business. In September, he took over the lead role of John Clayton in the drama series Tarzan of Warner Brothers . Although the series achieved higher ratings than other sitcoms from the media company, it was discontinued. In 2005 Fimmel starred as Taj in the series Rocky Point . In 2008 he played the young partner of the FBI cop Charles Barker on the side of Patrick Swayze in the crime series The Beast . The series was discontinued with Swayze's death. From 2013 to 2017 he was one of the main characters in the series Vikings as Ragnar Lodbrok .

In 2016 he played the lead role of Anduin Lothar in the fantasy film Warcraft: The Beginning .

For the action drama Die in a Gunfight , a free adaptation of the classic Romeo and Juliet story, he got the role of a Texas hit man.
