Travis Kauffman (born August 21, 1985 in Reading , Pennsylvania ) is an American heavyweight boxer. He is considered a much-cited white hope .

Beginnings and amateur time

Switchhitter Kauffman started boxing at the age of nine and fought as an amateur at age 15. His record was 56-12, he was temporarily listed as number one in the super heavyweight division by the US Amateur Association. However, he was already knocked out and is therefore considered a bad taker. At the 2003 "National Golden Gloves " he got good reviews, although he was defeated by the eventual winner Travis Walker . In 2004 he won the "PAL Championships".

While he remained undefeated internationally in 2005, he was defeated by his feared opponent Mike Wilson twice and saw little hope of qualifying for the Olympic Games. Therefore, he became a professional at the age of 20.

professional

Kauffman turned pro in 2006 and remained undefeated in his first 18 professional fights against mostly unknown opponents. He lost his 19th professional fight on September 18, 2009 against compatriot Tony Grano by knocking out in round 4.

He also worked as the main sparring partner of Hasim Rahman before his rematch in August 2006 with Oleg Maskayev .
