The Trekkopje (in Afrikaans means " trek " and Kopje means a "small mountain") is a mountain and geographical area as well as a former settlement in the Erongo region in central western Namibia, about 85 kilometers east of Swakopmund not far from the mining town of Arandis .
The Trekkopje uranium mine is one of the largest uranium deposits in the world. Trekkopje was a stop on the Swakopmund – Windhoek railway at the beginning of the 20th century . Trekkopje gained historical importance during the Battle of Trekkopje , in which on April 26, 1915 an attack by the Schutztruppe on South African soldiers was carried out. The fallen were buried here.
A solar power plant has been under construction at Trekkopje since 2016 .
