Trevor Drayton

Trevor Drayton (born February 18, 1955 , † January 17, 2008 in Pokolbin, New South Wales) was an Australian winemaker and entrepreneur , often described as an "icon" of the Australian wine industry .

Drayton came from an old winemaking family. From 1973 and 1978 he attended Roseworthy Agricultural College and studied oenology . He then returned to the family business and produced several award-winning wines. Most recently, he was chairman of the Hunter Valley Vineyard Association . He ran the family business Drayton's Family Wines together with his father Max, his mother Caroline and his brothers John and Greg.

In January 2008, at the age of 52, he was killed in an explosion at the winery. Drayton was buried in Cessnock .
