Trichocoleaceae are a moss family from the class of the Jungermanniopsida . These plants belong to the leafy liverwort .
description
The plants of this family are usually one to three pinnate. The flank leaves are deeply (three) four-lobed, the lobes more or less divided and covered with cilia. Sub-leaves are similar to the flank leaves. The hair-like leaves give the plants a fine, felt-like appearance. The species are diocesan . Brood bodies are not formed. The species grow on soils rich in humus, tree trunks, some species also on dead wood.

In Europe the family is only represented with one type of Trichocolea tomentella .
