Trinity Mass

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Missa in honorem SSmae Trinitatis (short: Trinity Mass ) in C major, KV 167, is a mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart from the year 1773 .

The mass, which was composed for the Trinity Festival, corresponds to the demand of the Salzburg archbishop that even a solemn high mass should not last longer than three quarters of an hour. Therefore, the Trinity Mass is to be assigned to the type of " Missa brevis et solemnis" , ie a solemn mass with four trumpets, but kept relatively short. It is the only Mozart mass that does not even use solo singing .
