The Trooz Glacier is a 15 miles long glacier on the Graham Coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows in the southern part of the Kiev Peninsula in a westerly direction and flows into Collins Bay .
The glacier was discovered during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908–1910) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . It is named after the Belgian politician Jules de Trooz (1857-1907), who as Belgian Minister of the Interior in obtaining financial resources for the publication of scientific results of the Belgica Expedition (1897-1899) under the direction of the polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomerys helped . The naming took place in 1950 at the suggestion of the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in the course of the naming of Cape Pérez , whose original name as Cap de Trooz was discarded.
