Tropophyte

A tropophyte (" adaptable plant") is a form of life in plants that change their appearance during unfavorable seasons such as drought or winter, for example through leaf fall, death down to the point of renewal buds or seed formation. By shedding the leaves , a plant temporarily changes from a hygrophyte to a xerophyte .

The tropophytes include the phanerophytes , chamaephytes , hemicryptophytes and cryptophytes .
