Trout Lake ( Lake trout is the English name for the American Arctic Char ) is a 504 km² lake in the Northwest Territories of Canada .
The lake is 240 km west of the Great Slave Lake . The Trout River , a left tributary of the Mackenzie River , forms the outflow for the lake on the north bank. The place Trout Lake is located on the southern shore. Fort Simpson is 120 km north of the lake.
