Truck Trial is a motor sport that involves driving trucks, or trucks in difficult terrain. This motor sport originated in the 1980s. You have to maneuver your truck with a lot of skill and ability through the gates set by the organizers. However, these gates are not easy to reach, so it is not made easy for the drivers and their passengers. In the sections that are driven, man and machine are pushed to their limits. The evaluation takes place in different classes.

Truck trial series in Germany

There are currently two truck trial series in Germany, on the one hand the Europe Truck Trail and the International Truck Trial Championship.

Europe Truck Trial

The Europa Truck Trial is an event of the OVS GMBH organization of sporting events. Since 2011, this has also provided a small series - the Nations Cup. However, this did not prevail. In 2012 the prototype classes P1 and P2 were merged to form the prototype class. Since 2013, it is no longer driven in classes, but in categories. Since 2013, there has only been the 2-axis, 3-axis, 4-axis and prototype category.

International Truck Trial Championship

The International Truck Trial Championship is a championship of the TTCD eV, which is a member of the DMV . It was founded in 2011 and took place for the first time in 2012.

Classes

The division into classes is mainly based on the criteria track width and wheelbase as well as whether it is a series or near-series vehicles (classes S1 – S5). Vehicles that are not in series or that are close to series are divided into prototype classes P1 and P2.

Regulations

In the Truck Trail, a course called a section is driven within a specified maximum time limit. In most cases this time is sufficient and will be significantly less.

Individual gates are inserted in the sections, with the left gate pole being marked in white in the direction of travel. The participants can choose their own order of gates in the section and then drive them as flawlessly as possible. The only thing to note is that the entrance gate is used and the section is exited again through the exit gate.

There are penalty points for changing direction of travel, touching the gate poles and the curbs, breaking a gate pole, driving through a gate incorrectly, leaving a gate out and exceeding the time limit. The team in its class with the fewest penalty points at the end of a competition weekend becomes the winner of the run and thus collects championship points.

100 For every 10 changes of direction between two gates. From the 11th change of direction. (i.e. the 10th, the 20th, ...)
8th Touching a gate pole or the barrier with part of the vehicle. As long as there is no change of direction, a gate pole is only touched once, even if the vehicle touches the pole several times.
20th Overturned gate pole, also by indirect action of the vehicle z. B. through rubble, tree trunk or the like (the pole must rest at at least two points, or be rolled over by a wheel or be run over by at least one axis)
20th every gate driven through in the wrong direction, with the exception of gates with special markings
20th every gate passed in the right direction for the second time, with the exception of gates with special markings
20th each gate of a different class
20th Cancel a gate pole, also through indirect action of the vehicle z. B. through rubble, tree trunk or similar (visible break)
