Gertrude (Trudi) Marie Guda (born December 4, 1940 in Paramaribo , Suriname ) is a Surinamese poet and cultural anthropologist.

Trudi Guda studied in the Netherlands . In 1967 she obtained her doctorate at the University of Utrecht with the thesis The Migration of Souls of the Maroons in the area of ​​the Brokopondo reservoir in Suriname ( Dutch De transmigratie van de Bosnegers uit het Brokopondomeergebied in Suriname ). With her volume of poems Vogel op het licht (1981) she was nominated for the Literatuurprijs van Suriname (Literature Prize of Suriname) 1980–1982. Although her poems are often inspired by the current political situation, she writes surprisingly originally formulated poems that put things sensitively and thoughtfully into a historical perspective.

Trudi Guda was a member of the editorial board of the newspaper 25 February , which was founded in July 1980 and supported the government after the military coup of February 25, 1980 .

Guda did important anthropological work with editions of the oral works of the Surinamese singer, narrator and cultural connoisseur Aleks de Drie , the alternative autobiography Wan tori fu mi eygi srefi (German: "A story about me", 1984) and the collection of 40 stories Sye! Arki tori! (German: "Still! Listen to this story!", 1985).

Trudi Guda is the widow of the Curaçao writer Frank Martinus Arion . She heads the “Fundashon Skol Humanista na Papiamentu”, which he founded. Her brother Leonard Henri Guda was a member of the Surinamese parliament Staten van Suriname for the Progressieve Surinaamse Volkspartij from 1958 until his death in 1966 .
