Trump-JAP (1912)

Trump was an English motorcycle manufacturer in Weybridge ( Surrey ), later in Birmingham , which existed from 1906 to 1923.

History and technology

The founders were Angus Maitland and Frank McNab, who used built-in engines from JAP , Anzani and later also two-stroke engines (PeCo) for their one- and two-cylinder motorcycles - mainly models developed for racing. The proximity to Brooklands allowed development on the racetrack. In 1909 McNab set an hour record on a single-cylinder Trump with 48 miles . The racing driver Gwenda Hawkes broke the 24-hour record in 1922, also on a Trump-JAP. Production ceased in the second half of World War I and later resumed in Birmingham until the end.
