history
After the great fire in Copenhagen in 1728, the first fire insurance - Kjøbenhavns Brandforsikring - was founded in Denmark by royal decree . This laid the foundation stone of the Tryg Group, which has grown over time through foundations, acquisitions and mergers across many sectors and national borders.
- 1731 - Kjøbenhavns Brand is founded
- 1898 - The name Tryg surfaced for the first time in the course of Livsforsikringsselskabet Tryg A / S on
- 1974 - as a result of several mergers, the joint company Tryg Insurance was created
- 1991 - Tryg Insurance becomes a public company. Tryg i Danmark smba - later known as TryghedsGruppen - becomes the new owner .
- 1998 - Tryg i Danmark smba sets up the Danish TrygFonden foundation
- 1999 - Tryg-Baltica merges with the Unidanmark banking group (now Nordea group). In the same year, Tryg acquires the Norwegian insurance company Vesta.
- 2002 - TrygVesta founded. In the same year, the group acquires the Danish and Norwegian businesses from Zurich Versicherung (except life insurance)
- 2005 - TrygVesta is listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange
- 2008 - Tryg i Danmark smba changes its name to TryghedsGruppen .
- 2009 - The takeover of the Swedish insurance company Moderna Försäkringar
- 2010 - TrygVesta is renamed Tryg
- 2011 - Morten Hübbe becomes CEO
- 2012 - Start of trading on the New York Stock Exchange . In the same year Tryg becomes the strongest insurance brand in Denmark.
- 2018 - Tryg buys the Alka insurance company
Branch in Germany
The German branch was founded on November 15, 2017 with its seat in Hamburg , operates under the name Tryg Germany , branch of Tryg Forsikring A / S and is represented with two further offices in Cologne and Munich . Tryg Germany operates the Tryg Group's bond business in Germany. The surety business has been operating under the name Tryg Garanti since 1998 and initially gradually expanded from Denmark to Norway (2006), Sweden (2007) and Finland (2008). This enabled them to become the market leader in Northern Europe in a very short time . After opening the branch in Germany, further branches followed in the Netherlands and Austria . Tryg Germany provides all common sureties and guarantees, including:

digitalization
Due to Denmark's pioneering role in the field of digitization , the internal processes for applying for, issuing and managing guarantees at Tryg Garanti were converted to a digital process as early as the 2000s. Tryg Germany now also offers this service in Germany in addition to the classic issuing of guarantees and is considered to be an innovation driver for the acceptance of digital guarantees.
