Scar the Martyr was a short-lived metal band led by Joey Jordison , drummer for Slipknot .

During a long break from his main band Slipknot, Joey Jordison founded the band Scar the Martyr in 2013 together with guitarists Jed Simon ( Zimmer Hole , Strapping Young Lad ) and Kris Norris ( Darkest Hour ), with whom he wanted to publish pieces he wrote during the hiatus . The line-up was completed with singer Henry Derek Bonner and keyboardist Chris Vrenna ( Nine Inch Nails ). In September 2013, the self-titled album was released on Roadrunner Records , which debuted at number 129 on the Billboard 200 . The debut album received a lot of attention and was nominated for Best Debut Album at the Metal Hammer Awards 2014 . The band was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards 2014 and the Loudwire Music Awards 2013 . The band went on tour with bassist Kyle Konkiel and replacement keyboardist Joey Blush. After a long hiatus, Jordison announced the breakup of the band in May 2016.

Scar the Martyr played a mix of post-grunge and alternative metal in the style of Neurosis , Faith No More and Alice in Chains .
