Czech-German culture days

The Czech-German Culture Days are a presentation of Czech art and culture abroad. They take place annually in October and November. In the Elbe / Labe Euroregion , the culture days offer the opportunity for German-Czech encounters with a cultural program.

Since 1999, the Czech-German Culture Days (until 2006 under the name Czech Culture Days) have been held across borders in Dresden , Ústí nad Labem and the Elbe / Labe Euroregion . The initiators were the Brücke / Most Foundation together with the Czech Center Dresden and the state capital Dresden. After the completion of the Czech Center Dresden in 2010, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Dresden took on the role of co-organizer. In 2007 the number of main organizers was expanded by the Collegium Bohemicum from Ústí nad Labem. The cultural days attract around 10,000 visitors annually. In 2013 they will take place from October 24th to November 10th.

aims

The aim of the Czech-German Culture Days is to initiate new impulses for cultural work in the border region and to bring people on both sides of the border together with events. The main aim is to arouse and promote interest in the culture of the respective neighbors in the visitors of the events, organizations and those responsible for culture through the presentation of an age-independent and cross-genre cultural program. The culture days would like to contribute to deepening the coexistence of Saxony and Northern Bohemia , Germany and the Czech Republic .

Thematic conception

The culture days rely on a mixture of well-known and less well-known artists, also with a strong socio-cultural orientation. The cultural days program includes events from the genres of theater, film, literature and music. Symposia, workshops, exhibitions and lectures on Czech-German relations will also take place.

Czech Culture Days in Freiburg im Breisgau

Czech Culture Days have been taking place at the foundation's location in Freiburg im Breisgau since 2005; they are held in Freiburg by the Brücke Institute of the Brücke / Most Foundation in cooperation with the Czech Center in Munich .
