The Tschepan -Gebirge ( Bulgarian Чепън , Tschepan ) is a Karst , for the southwestern part of the Balkan Mountains is counted. It rises in the northwestern part of the Sofia plain to a length of about 20 km. At 1210 meters, the Petrow Krast ( Петров кръст ) is the highest peak .

To the southwest of the mountain is the town of Dragoman and Lake Dragoman . Other settlements on the southern slope are Golemo Malowo , Rajanowzi , Malo Malowo and Zraklewzi .

In the Serbian-Bulgarian War (1885), during the Battle of Slivnitsa , the northern front line ran through the mountains. Petrov Vrach was taken several times by both sides.
