Tsuneo Shibata

Tsuneo Shibata ( Japanese 柴 田 恒 雄 , Shibata Tsuneo ; * around 1940) is a Japanese jazz musician ( double bass ).

Shibata worked in the Japanese jazz scene from the 1960s; around 1968 the first recordings were made with Hiroshi Matsumoto ( My Funny Valentine ). In the late 1960s and 1970s he played a. a. with Hiroshi Suzuki & His Happy Cats ( Up Up and Away , 1969), Hiroshi Okazaki & Star Gazers, Jimmy Takeuchi , Izumi Tateno and in the trio by Teru Sakamoto , with Kohji Fujika ( Happy Session, Vols. 1 & 2 ), with Yoshitaka Akimitsu ( My Melancholy Baby ) and with the vocal duo Jerry Ito & Judy Anton ( Let's Swing the Sing , 1980). In the field of jazz, Tom Lord lists him in seven recording sessions between 1968 and 1986, most recently with Hidehiko Matsumoto ( With Strings ).
