Tsurune ( Japanese ツ ル ネ - 風舞 高校 弓 道 部 - , Tsurune: Kazemai Kōkō Kyūdō-bu ) is an anime series by the Kyoto Animation studio from 2018 based on a light novel . The work is about a high school Kyūdō club and can be classified into the genres of sport and drama.
action
The cousins Minato Narumiya and Seiya Takehaya go to Kazemai High School together after high school. There they are together with their elementary school friend Ryōhei Yamanouchi for the re-established Kyūdō club. Minato and Seiya were ready to be successful archers in middle school, but Minato refuses membership despite being urged by his two friends. He has had “disk panic” since a competition in middle school: He lets go of the arrow too early and always misses the target. Since he is still in panic, he wants to give up the sport. But the club now only has four male members, in addition to the two friends, the cheerful and girl-loving Nanao Kisaragi and his always disgruntled friend Kaito Onogi - one of them too few to participate as a group in the prefecture championship. Only after a chance encounter with the archer Masaki Takigawa in a shooting range in the neighborhood does Minato find courage again. Because Takigawa once had panic and was able to overcome it with a lot of work, so that he has now found a form that Minato admired. He becomes the club's coach, giving Minato tips on how to work on his panic, and Minato is eager to train. This can even convince Kaito, who has already dismissed Minato as a hopeless case, to accept him as a teammate so that they can compete for the championship.
The common training welds the guys together and when the championship comes up, they have improved significantly, even if Minato is still struggling with his panic. At the championship they will meet the team from the Kirisaki High School. It also features Shū Fujiwara, with whom Minato and Seiya were in the middle school club. Shū had once introduced Minato to archery and regretted his departure from the sport. While the Kazemai team just managed to qualify for the next round, Minato remembers the past. The accident in which he got into with his mother, in which she died and he was seriously injured, still troubles him. He also thinks of the time with Shū, whom he admires so much. He, in turn, confronts Seiya during the championship: He would always only hang on to Minato and never archery out of his own motivation. So Seiya has to be clear about his friendship with Minato and decides to pursue the sport together with him.
After the narrow success, the boys continue training for the next round while their coach Takigawa thinks about his grandfather. He was a successful marksman and taught his grandson, but was so strict that they became estranged. Long after his death, Takigawa wanted to find out more about him and, after his students had motivated him to do so, he went to see his grandfather's acquaintances. When the next part of the championship began shortly afterwards, the club learned that Takigawa had an accident on the way. At first desperate, they then muster up their courage and want to give the best for their trainer. They eventually reach the final and compete against Shū's club. After one of the previously self-confident opposing shooters gets panic and Shū also misses a shot in the end, the Kazemai high school just wins.
