history

The Turn- und Rasenspielverein (TuRa) 1888 Duisburg was founded on November 11, 1888 under the name Turnverein 1888 .

The origin of the club was the Neudorfer Turnverein 1848. The gymnasts Fritz Korbmacher, Peter Herbertz, Heinrich Mieser, Otto Meier, Wilhelm Lohoff Bernhard Heimann were the founders and at the same time the first board member.

The transfer of 13 footballers from the Borussia football club in 1909 thus marked the establishment of the football department. The club played behind Aktienstraße until 1919 and then moved to Lotharplatz. In 1920, the merger with the Neudorfer Turnverein 1888 and the lawn sports club 07 followed. As a result, the club was renamed “Turn- und lawn sports club 88”.

In 1928 another merger with the neighboring club "Viktoria Kellermann" followed, which led to the name change to Turn- und Spielvereinigung 88 eV Duisburg. After the Second World War , the club started under the current name Turn- und Rasenspielverein 88 Duisburg .

In 1984 the members of the dissolved TTV Duisburg association joined the association, which meant the establishment of the trampoline department.

In 2006 the merger with the DJK Adler Duisburg followed (without changing the club name).
