The TuS Helpup (officially: Turn- und Sportlust Helpup eV from 1911 ) is a sports club from the Helpup district of Oerlinghausen . The club was two German champions in netball .

history

The club was founded on January 12, 1911 as a gymnastics club Helpup . A year later, the Eichenkranz Helpup gymnastics club followed . The latter merged in 1919 with the gymnastics club Kachtenhausen for outdoor Turnerschaft Kachtenhausen-Helpup . Four years later, the two clubs separated again; the rest of the club was called Freie Turnerschaft Helpup . This in turn was forcibly dissolved in 1933. The members joined the gymnastics club Helpup . The footballing roots of the club lie with the club Teutonia Helpup , founded in 1920 , which two years later merged with Spiel und Sport Kachtenhausen to form Sportlust Kachtenhausen-Helpup . In 1938 the gymnastics club and Sportlust merged to form TuS Helpup. In addition to netball, the TuS Helpup also offers badminton , fistball , soccer , ju-jutsu , swimming , table tennis , gymnastics and volleyball .

Netball

The women's team of TuS Helpup played in the basketball Bundesliga from 2001 to 2005. After two failed attempts to rise again, the ascent succeeded in 2008. Three years later, the club hosted the final round of the German championship and came second behind SG Findorff . In 2012 and 2016, the Helpupers secured the German championship.

Soccer

The footballers of the TuS Helpup had their most successful time in the years 1951 to 1961, when the team played in the district class. The greatest successes were fourth places in the seasons 1956/57 and 1957/58. There were other short guest appearances in the district class or district league in the years 1967 to 1969 and in the 1998/99 season. After the team slipped down to the district league B in the meantime, the Helpupers have been playing in the Lemgo district league A since they were promoted again in 2016 .
