List of German champions in netball

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A German team championship in (field) netball was played for the first time in 1921. After 60 championships in 79 years, the dwindling popularity of field basketball meant that after the German championship in 1999, no more championship fights were held. A German indoor basketball champion was first determined in 1969.

German champions in field basketball

Due to the neglect of basketball on the part of the German Gymnastics Federation , no national title was played immediately after the first championships were held. German champions were not determined again until 1936. In the years 1942 to 1946 the game was stopped due to the effects of World War II . Until 1971, the German champions were determined as part of the gymnastics championships.

German champions in indoor basketball

50th German indoor basketball champion in the women's age group: SV Schraudenbach

The indoor basketball was introduced in 1939. 48 years after the first German field basketball championships as part of the gymnastics championships in Hanover, the first German indoor basketball championships were again held in Hanover in 1969.

The record champions are SG Findorff , which together with the successes of the previous club TvdB Bremen celebrated 28 championship titles across all age groups (as of 2018). In addition, SG Findorff is the most successful club in the women's age group with 15 championships, followed by TG 48 Schweinfurt with 12 titles. The latter was the dominant team for women, especially in the 1990s: the club won 10 of the 14 championships from 1989 to 2002.
