history

The first known documentary mention of the place comes from the year 1194. In 1305 the place went to the Lords of Henneberg . In 1356 the parish of Hausen was established. The construction of the choir tower of the parish church is documented for the 15th century . From 1542 Hausen went to the Würzburg bishop with the Mainberg office . Since 1625 Hausen was haunted by Swedish troops during the Thirty Years' War and by French troops in 1796 during the Second Margrave War .

In 1906 the local school house was built; In 1927 the central water supply followed. In February 1944, during the Second World War , Hausen was severely damaged by bombing. On May 1, 1978, Hausen became part of Schonungen as part of the municipal reform.

Local recreation and sights

Hausen is located in a local recreation area in Schweinfurt; hiking trails lead from the village in almost all directions. This is also where the 5 km long Ottenhäuser Grund begins , through which the Wollenbach flows and which leads on a (bike) hiking trail through a large forest area northwards to the hamlet of Ottenhausen . The Lorenz Fratz brewery, which was founded in 1850 and has existed for 100 years, is located in Hausen, reopened in 2008 as the Martin private brewery , with a large beer garden on the valley slope. In the former Hausener quarry there is a deep groundwater lake (see: Schonungen, Felsensee ).
