Reichelshof is a district of the community Schonungen in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt . Reichelshof is in the district of Schonungen, but is now considered a village , according to the resolution of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior from 1950, since there are now more than ten residential buildings. However, Reichelshof has no village character, was never a political unit and consists only of the eponymous, historical manor, three Aussiedlerhöfe and a scattered settlement 500 m northwest.

Reichelshof is the only district of Schonungen on the left (southern) side of the Main and is therefore also claimed by the municipality of Sennfeld , which is on the same side of the Main and whose postal code is Reichelshof.

Geographical location

Reichelshof is located in the suburbs of Schweinfurt , 4 km east of the city center, in the extreme south-west of the Schonungen municipality.

Reichelshof and its surrounding corridors are surrounded in the west by Sennfeld's specialty crops , in the north by Schweinfurt Mainbogen with a clear view of Mainberg Castle , in the east by Schonunger Bucht and in the south by the wooded Rückerschlag hill , which keeps the traffic noise from the federal highway 70 behind . On the other, right-Main (northern) side of the Main, Mainberg lies in the north and Schonungen in the east. In the wider area around Reichelshof there are Gochsheim in the south and Sennfeld in the west (both on the left bank of the Main) with the former spa Bad Sennfeld and immediately behind Sennfeld, on both sides of the Main, Schweinfurt.

Reichelshof can only be reached via Sennfeld via a cul-de-sac. There used to be a ferry connection on the northern edge of the Schonungen Bay, across to the Rechtsmainischen Fährhaus, which lies between Schonungen and its current district Mainberg .

history

The place name Reichelshof is probably derived from the personal name Rihhari. The farm was first mentioned in a document in 1094. At that time it was under the influence of the Benedictine monastery Theres near Haßfurt . In 1366, Emperor Charles IV confirmed his possessions to the monastery, including the Reichelshof. It was not until 1417 that Count Wilhelm von Hemberg succeeded in integrating the Reichelshof into his domain.

The tithe justice remained with the Hochstift Würzburg throughout the Middle Ages . During the Thirty Years' War , the armies that passed through devastated the courtyard, so that in 1636 it lay desolate. The farm was probably rebuilt in the 17th century. Now the farm owners changed frequently. So in 1843 Carl Ernst Johann Freiherr von Hassberg sat in the yard. The farm has been characterized by frequent changes of ownership to this day. Today it is claimed by the parishes of Schonungen and Sennfeld.

Manor house of the manor

Parts of the old manor have still been preserved. The mansion can be assigned to the period between 1870 and 1880 and presents itself as a hipped roof building . It is two-storey and was decorated in the neo-renaissance style with so-called corner blocks. The farm buildings grouped around the house date from different centuries and are partly older than the manor.

Today the estate is home to the Reichelshof nature and environmental garden, a state-approved environmental station in 2004, where children and adults have the opportunity to experience nature and shape their environment.
