history

The origin of the name Rednershof is in the dark. The farmstead was mentioned for the first time in the oldest fief book of the Würzburg monastery from 1303, at that time the place was called "Reithart". The court probably remained part of the Würzburg bishopric throughout the Middle Ages. During the Thirty Years' War the courtyard was devastated by armies passing through, so that Rednershof is temporarily listed as a desert . In 1631 the farm was still deserted. In 1818 the farm came to Abersfeld before it became part of the community of Schonungen.

Attractions

Today the center of the small hamlet is the Catholic Chapel of the Visitation of Mary. It was built before 1850 and was rebuilt in 1965. The chapel presents itself as a massive gable roof with a roof turret , the choir is more recent. Inside there is a stone Madonna from the Obertheres monastery . It was created around 1420 and came here in the 19th century. The erection of a wayside shrine depicting the crucifixion and the coronation of Mary dates back to 1798 .
