Sudweyhe is a part of the municipality Weyhe in the Lower Saxony district of Diepholz . On December 31, 2005 Sudweyhe had 3,071 inhabitants, in 2016 there were 2922.

Sudweyhe is located in the eastern part of the municipality Weyhe. Large parts of the area are undeveloped and are mainly used as pasture, but also as arable land: Sudweyher Bruch , Große Marsch , Sudweyher Kuhweide . The Sudweyher area extends to the Weser between Dreye and Ahausen. There is also the Sudweyher Wielt with the Wieltsee , the largest marina on the Mittelweser.

The landscape protection area (LSG) Kirchweyher See is also located in the Sudweyher area .

Waters

The Süstedter Bach flows in the eastern area of ​​Sudweyhe . The Hache is on the western side the border river to the Weyher district of Kirchweyhe. Both rivers flow into the Kirchweyher See and then continue to flow as Ochtum in a north-westerly direction. The Sudweyher Beeke flows through Sudweyhe and flows into the Süstedter Bach.

The first documented evidence for Weyhe comes from the year 860. According to this, a girl from the village'wege 'is said to have been cured of her suffering after she was at the grave of St. Willehad had been in Bremen Cathedral. Weyhe always includes Sudweyhe (and Kirchweyhe).

The first explicit mention of Sudweyhe comes from 1352, when the relatives of Clüver sold farms in Sudweyhe to the Counts of Hoya [Hoy UB I, 1084].

Until March 1, 1974, the district Sudweyhe belonged together with Jeebel and Ahausen to the previously independent municipality Sudweyhe. At this point in time, the communities of Kirchweyhe, Sudweyhe and Leeste were combined to form the unitary community of Weyhe.
