Kirchweyher See

The Kirchweyher See is a lake in the Weyher districts of Sudweyhe and Kirchweyhe .

It is fed by the Süstedter Bach ; the Hache only joins at the outflow of the lake. Outflow is the Ochtum .

Originally the Hache flowed into the middle of the elongated lake. By the end of the 20th century, however, the lake area decreased, so that the mouth was in the lower third of the lake. While after the First World War 1920/1921 at the top, the eastern third of the lake nor a bathhouse had been established and the lake had a depth of up to two meters, silted up the lake after the Second World War almost entirely and only had a depth of 10 cm up. In the years 1998/1999 the lake was desludged; the material was pumped into four polders in fields to the northwest of the lake. In order to prevent the lake from silting up again through entry from the Hache, the mouth of the Hache was relocated in such a way that the stream only joins at the outflow of the lake.

The lake is now part of the protected landscape Kirchweyher lake .
