history

Erichshof was first mentioned in 1565 when the 'Erichs Hof' Vorwerk was laid out. The name 'Erichs Hof' was chosen in honor of Count Erich von Hoya when the Counts of Hoya put on a new Vorwerk in the Syke office. The Leester and Brinkumer Höfe then had to deliver their duties here.

In 1790 the Vorwerk was isolated and 30 settler positions ('Colonen') in the "Colonie Erichshof" were awarded.

Erichshof has been part of the Leeste community since 1928. Until then, the Erichshof community was independent.

After the Second World War, many new settlements emerged in Erichshof. The population grew rapidly from under 500 (1925) to over 2500 (2009).

Until March 1, 1974, Erichshof belonged together with Leeste, Hörden, Angelse, Hagen and Melchiorshausen to the previously independent municipality of Leeste. Then the communities Kirchweyhe, Sudweyhe and Leeste were combined to form the unitary community Weyhe.

From 1858 to 1922 there was a Dutch windmill in Erichshof an der Chaussee (today's B6), which the master carpenter Gerd Dunkhase had built. She ground animal bones into bone meal, which was used as fertilizer on the fields. The mill burned down completely in 1922 and was not rebuilt.
