Tubal Cain

Tubal Cain ( Hebrew תּוּבַל קַיִן, often also: Tubal-Kajin , the common interpretation "Tubal the blacksmith" is only folk etymological ) is a figure in the Hebrew Bible .

Tubal-cain is mentioned in Gen 4.22  EU . His father Lamech was therefore descended from Adam's eldest son, Cain . Lamech himself was married to Ada and Zilla . The latter is the mother of their son Tubal-Kain. Tubal-Cain's sister was Naama . The Bible also mentions two half-brothers of Tubal-Cain, Jabal and Jubal .

According to the Bible , Tubal-Cain is said to have been the progenitor of all ore workers and blacksmiths .

In Freemasonry , the name Tubal-Cains is traditionally used as the password of the apprentice degree.
