Tuensang is a city in the Indian state of Nagaland . The city was founded in 1947 for administrative purposes.
The city is the capital of the Tuensang district . Tuensang has the status of a Town Committee . The city is divided into 15 wards . It had 36,774 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of which 19,471 were men and 17,303 women. Christians make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 91%. Hindus form a minority of over 6%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 92.0%, well above the national average. 91.0% belong to the Scheduled Tribes .
