The Tuhala River ( Estonian Tuhala jõgi ) flows in the north of the Republic of Estonia .

It rises on the eastern edge of the Mahtra Bog, not far from the village of Kirivalla (rural municipality of Kõue in Harju County ). It crosses the Järlepa moor.

The Tuhala River flows into the Pirita River , of which it is the left tributary. The river is named after the village of Tuhala , past whose historic manor house it flows.

The Tuhala Jõgi 26 km long. 1.5 km of the river runs underground. Its catchment area covers 112 km².

The river is also known by the names of coffins jõgi , Nõrava jõgi and Kata jõgi .
