Max von Sussdorf

Max von Sussdorf (born July 24, 1855 in Dresden , † October 12, 1945 ) was a German veterinarian and university professor .

Life

Max v. Sussdorf was the son of the chemist and pharmacist Julius Gottfried Sussdorf and studied human and veterinary medicine in Dresden and Munich . He was a member of the RSC-Corps Alemannia Dresden and Suevo-Salingia Munich .

He received his doctorate as Dr. med. and Dr. med. vet. and became a government director . In 1880 he was appointed to the University of Veterinary Medicine in Stuttgart. In 1899 he was its rector . In 1898 he became a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina . He was scientifically active in many fields and was considered an excellent scholar and teacher. Out of patriotic convictions, he took part in the First World War at the age of sixty .
