Tupua Tamasese Meaʻole

Tupua Tamasese Meaʻole , CBE (born June 3, 1905 , † April 5, 1963 ) was Tupua Tamasese from 1929 to 1963, a Samoan Paramount chief . He held the office of O le Ao o le Malo (Head of State of Samoa) together with Malietoa Tanumafili II from 1962 until his death the following year.

life and career

He was born in 1905 to Titimaea Tupua Tamasese , who he succeeded in 1929.

Under the New Zealand Trusteeship of Samoa (1914–1962) he was one of the two fautuas (advisers) of the New Zealand administration together with Malietoa Tanumafili II .

He was one of the authors of the constitution of Samoa after independence.

He was honored with a CBE (Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire ).

He was followed by Tupua Tamasese Lealofi-o-a'ana IV. (1922-1983) as Tupua Tamasese, who in turn was followed by Mea'ole's son, Tupua Tamasese Tupuola Taisi Tufuga Efi , the former Prime Minister and current O le Ao o le Malo .
